2008 News Archive - Holidays - Harbin a good time

16 11 2007

Those who fancy seeing some fine art on holiday could go somewhere with famous galleries and museums, strolling round a warmly heated gallery admiring the masterpieces on the walls.

While there's nothing wrong with that, visitors to China might just fancy trying something a little cooler when it comes to art.

The city of Harbin makes the most of the cold January weather to hold snow and ice sculpting contests, displaying the creative talents of some well wrapped-up artists.

Harbin's ice sculpting competition takes place from January 6th to 8th and its snow sculpting contest between the 10th and 13th, all as part of the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival.

It will be a great chance to marvel at just what can be done with some frozen H2O and a chisel.

In addition to this, visitors will be able to enjoy skating, snow motors and other winter-related fun, the city's website states.
