2008 News Archive - Holidays - High temperatures bode well for summer of sun

28 03 2007

Unusually high temperatures during this week have resulted in many Britons predicting a scorching summer and scrambling to book holidays to sunny destinations.

The bookie William Hill has lowered the odds of the temperature exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) this year from 10/1 to 8/1, reports the Telegraph.

London yesterday saw temperatures of 18 degrees Celsius, which was even higher than those seen in Corfu, one of Britain's favourite holiday resorts.

As welcome as this spike in temperature has been, it is certain that throughout the summer, Corfu will be back on top, temperature-wise.

Last summer, during the month of August, temperatures reached as high as 45 degrees Celsius on the northern part of the island.

Corfu is not only popular with the Brits, as summers also regularly see a large influx of Italians.

With its picturesque villas, wild, rocky landscape, crystal clear water and long beaches, Corfu will always retain its allure, no matter how hot it gets in London.
