2008 News Archive - Holidays - Holidaymakers can avoid 'flightmares'

18 07 2007

Brits seeking sunnier climes this summer are advised by an expert from Moneyfacts to check they have the right travel insurance policy to avoid so-called "flightmares".

Speaking to Reuters, Lisa Taylor, an analyst at Moneyfacts, advises that some travel insurance policies will cover lost baggage and delays, but also warns travellers that they need to ensure they are covered.

"The cover offered also varies considerably, so don't take for granted that you're getting the level of cover you need," she remarks.

A poll released by Tesco found British holidaymakers named lost luggage and delays as their worst travel nightmares. Crying babies and passengers with bad body odour were also named in the survey as irritating.

Travellers have also been advised by uSwitch.com to make certain they are taking the best credit and debit cards away with them, as fees for different companies vary. The company suggests it may be better for holidaymakers to use a different card abroad to the one they use at home.
