2008 News Archive - Holidays - Holidays in Florida 'cheaper'

16 04 2008

Family holidays in Florida are cheaper to enjoy thanks to the drop in the value of the dollar, it has been reported.

According to the Telegraph, holidays in popular US resorts like Florida can cost families £500 less than a holiday to Europe.

The publication notes that research from TravelSupermarket.com and the Post Office shows Florida - once considered one of the world's most expensive holiday destinations - is now in competition with destinations such as mainland Spain and France.

"I've just come back from Spain and I really noticed the difference. If you are the sort of family who is going to spend £2,000 or £3,000 hiring a villa in France or the Spanish islands, why not think about going to Florida or the Caribbean," Dan Atkinson, at TravelSupermarket, asked.

Holidaymakers travelling to Florida for a holiday this spring could be in time for SunFest.

SunFest is an annual music festival located in Palm Beach Florida, which this year will feature Sheryl Crow and Good Charlotte among other acts.
