2008 News Archive - Holidays - Holidays to get hotter in Canaries

27 06 2008

Holidaymakers looking to visit the Canaries this summer might like to take extra supplies of sun cream, if a latest weather report is anything to go by.

A statement from the islands' government said that a heat wave could hit certain areas today.

With parts of southern Spain having experienced unusually hot weather this week, Fuerteventura, Tenerife and Gran Canaria could be next on the list.

A far cry from the grey and wet weather that has hit parts of the UK in recent days, temperatures of around 42 degrees C could be felt by holidaymakers, according to newscanarias.net.

And it is not just the Canary Islands that are set to feel the heat this summer.

The government on the Balearic Islands has also issued a statement on the coming high season, forecasting average temperatures that are one degree higher than normal.
