2008 News Archive - Holidays - Holidays to Majorca 'remain cheap'

14 01 2009

Holidays to Majorca, a favourite summer holiday destination for UK tourists, will remain relatively cheap this year despite the drop in the value of the pound against the euro.

The Majorca Daily Bulletin, a local newspaper, cited a study by the Co-op travel agency which revealed that the price of holidays in Majorca would increase by an average of just 3.2 per cent in 2009.

It had been feared that the relative weakness of the pound against the euro would push prices up, but the newspaper said that the price increase in Majorca is the lowest rise of all the destinations included in the survey.

Majorca has long been recognised by tourists from the UK as one of the best destinations for sun, sea and sand at bargain prices.

Figures released by the airport operator BAA recently revealed that Palma was one of the top ten most popular destination airports for Scottish people last year.
