04 10 2007
China is a huge nation with a vastly different culture to explore and enjoy, yet some things remain are very similar between the UK and the far east, with horse racing just one of the events taking place in the country later this year.
The Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Races 2007 takes place at Sha Tin racecourse - described as stunning by the event organisers - on December 9th.
Visitors to the event may fancy a flutter with some of their holiday cash, or simply enjoy the buzz of the race scene while sipping on some bubbly.
Known as the Turf World Championships, $62 million (£3.9 million) of prize money is up for grabs at the occasion this year, which could mean this holiday will be one to remember.
Furthermore, parties are held around the town of Sha Tin during the event, with huge crowds gathering to enjoy the thrill occasion as it broadcast to a billion people worldwide.
Hong Kong was a British colony until power was handed back to the Chinese authorities in 1997.
