03 02 2009

The increasing popularity of Dubai as a destination has seen one leading chain open an extension to its flagship Dubai hotel.

Movenpick Hotels & Resorts announced that the Hotel Bur Dubai will be offering new residence with an additional 57 rooms to cope with the increased demand from visitors wanting to spend longer periods of time in Dubai.

At the same time, the Swiss-based chain announced that it has completed an additional 26 new rooms at the top of the property, taking the hotel's overall capacity to 312 rooms.

Michael Nugent, general manager of the Hotel & Residence Bur Dubai, said: "The demand for longer stay facilities is growing in the market and we are pleased to now be able to satisfy this need."

Dubai has seen several new hotels open for business recently, including the 1,539 room Atlantis resort, which opened with a celebrity-studded party attended by Robert de Niro and Lindsay Lohan.
