08 02 2008
Destinations in Italy are popular for family holidays, one commentator has reported.
According to Ted Wake, director of sales and marketing for Kirker Holidays, city breaks can be fascinating, "highly entertaining" and educational for children.
Among the top destinations for families, Mr Wake listed Venice, in Italy, noting that the city and similar locations "lend themselves very well to family experiences".
"For most children, the water taxi transfer from the airport is significantly more exciting than the average Disney ride," he added - noting that an extra "thrill" was the arrival in a beautiful destination like Venice.
Mr Wake reported that activities for families in Venice included wondering around St Mark's square, learning about the architecture, having refreshments at Florian's cafe and feeding the pigeons.
He added that walking tours could be fun as Italians "love children".
