2008 News Archive - Holidays - Malta Carnival comes to an end

21 02 2007

A spectacular carnival in Malta came to an end on Tuesday, concluding a busy week of loud, energetic and colourful partying.

Held on Gozo, the small island to the northwest of Malta, the carnival drew visitors from around Europe, all of whom will have appreciated the beautiful weather conditions.

According to MaltaMedia News, St Anne's Street in Floriana was the place to be on Tuesday evening, as floats passed by to mark the end of yet another successful carnival.

The annual event is organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts and it is typically a humorous affair characterised by wild costumes and lively dancing.

In many ways, the carnival is a little out of sync with the general spirit of Malta, which is a stunningly tranquil nation packed full of exceptional architecture and glorious beaches.

Valetta, Sliema, Mdina and Rabat are all fascinating towns and tourists visiting all of these are typically taken by the pervading sense of calm.

Surrounded by crystal clear waters, Malta is also a haven for beach lovers and there are few other places within Europe that can boast bathing conditions of this quality. Il-Qaware, Ir-Ramla il-Wamra and Xlendi Bay are all popular resorts and there are also a number of outstanding beaches on Gozo.
