2008 News Archive - Holidays - Mexican west coast gets tourism boost

21 01 2009

Tourism representatives on the west coast of Mexico are hoping to see a growth in the number of visitors to the region following the receipt of government funds.

Riviera Nayarit, a Mexican tourism board representing the resort of the same name, welcomed the injection of $1.5 million (£1.1 million) into the area's tourism sector and said it will seek to develop more air links to the coast.

The region itself stretches for more than 100 miles north from Puerto Vallarta and features attractions such as fishing villages, archaelogical sites, nature reserves and beaches.

In addition, there is now a luxury marina in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle which is sure to delight those at the higher end of the market.

Should Riviera Nayarit become a staple for visitors to Mexico, it will join an illustrious list of resorts that includes Cancun, Playacar and Playa del Carmen.
