2008 News Archive - Holidays - Miami to host Afro-Cuban Dance Festival

15 06 2007

From June 29th to July 1st, Miami, always a vibrant city, will really rock out.

The Afro-Cuban Dance Festival is one of wildest and most energetic events that the city hosts all year.

Drumming classes, bilingual discussions and dialogues, displays of Cuban culture and art and tours of Little Havana will all ensure that visitors to the festival have fun.

Miami is one of the great cultural melting pots of America and includes ethnic Latin Americans and many French or Haitian-speaking Caribbean islanders.

The city is 34 per cent Cuban, so the Cuban culture is a big factor in the city's general atmosphere, as visitors will soon realise.

Little Havana, named after the capital city of Cuba, is one of the most picturesque and interesting neighbourhoods in the city.

If you can't make it the Afro-Cuban Dance Festival, try getting to Miami for Little Havana's Calle Ocho, which in 1988 set a world record for having the longest conga line ever.
