2008 News Archive - Holidays - New tourist facility opens in Kenya

12 12 2007

A new facility has been opened in Laikipia in order to meet demand from the "high end" tourism market, it has been reported.

Business Daily reveals that Ol Lentille Lodge is Kenya's hospitality industry's attempt to promote itself as a quality destination for holidaymakers.

The lodge will target a "low volume" of "high yield" tourists and will also attempt to promote eco-tourism.

"We will market the lodge as a small country retreat in the East African Wilderness providing the best wilderness experience to discerning people," executive officer of Tourism Trust Fund Dan Kagagi told the publication.

Eco-tourism now accounts for five per cent of the global tourism market according to the UN World Tourism Organisation.

Africa News recently reported that tourist numbers in Kenya are expected to hit a record level this December.
