2008 News Archive - Holidays - Older travellers "more chilled out"

20 06 2008

The mature traveller is more relaxed and amicable than their younger counterpart, it has been reported.

According to American Express, around two in three British holidaymakers fall out with their fellow travellers before they reach the airport.

Research by the credit card provider also shows that younger travellers are more likely to lose their cool than their older compatriots.

Young travellers are reportedly the most "argument prone", averaging roughly four arguments compared to 3.1 arguments among the over-55 group.

The nature of the fall outs ranges from packing issues to financial concerns.

"The research has shown that holiday makers have a lot to think about when they go away and the last thing they are going to want to worry about is money," Kirstie Bayley, director at American Express Travellers Cheques said.

Holidaymakers from the north-east were shown to be the most argumentative prior to travelling abroad, according to the study.
