2008 News Archive - Holidays - Praise for the 'real' Tenerife

11 01 2007

Tenerife is packed full of wondrous charms that too many Brits fail to acknowledge, according to one travel writer.

Kate Mead, in the Bromley Times, writes that most holidaymakers are aware of the "Brit abroad" parts of the Spanish island, but suggests that the real delights have remained something of a spectacular secret.

The beauty of Tenerife, Ms Mead suggests, is that it is small enough to explore in a short period of time, despite the wide variety of activities on offer.

The Teide National Park, a conservation area around Pico del Teide, is described as "ideal to explore" and it is said to offer "incredible clear views of the island on the way up".

Ms Mead then advises a trip to La Oratava, a small town which is known as the Garden of Tenerife.

She also champions Loro Parque, the nature enclosure situated in Puerto de la Cruz. This offers "spectacular entertainment with seals, dolphins and whale shows as well as the fantastic Penguin World".

Other popular attractions on the island include AquaPark, Barranco del Infierno and Playa de las Americas. Tenerife also has some spectacular beaches, many of which are man-made, where visitors can soak up the sun and enjoy the warm Mediterranean waters.
