2008 News Archive - Holidays - Rafael Nadal recommends holidays in Majorca

02 01 2009

Rafael Nadal, the world tennis number one, is recommending holidays to Majorca in a series of adverts which will be screened on TV.

The popular young star, who claimed his first Wimbledon title by beating Roger Federer in an epic five-set final last year, is filming the adverts as part of a three-year deal with the Majorcan tourist board.

Nadal was born in Majorca and is therefore well acquainted with the islands many charms and the attractions he is promoting.

In the advert, Nadal says: "I travel a lot and see a lot of places and that's why I can confirm that you can do anything in these islands - except, perhaps, skiing."

Majorca's tourism minister, whose surname is also Nadal, said he was delighted with the deal.

Minister Miquel Nadal added: "The best tennis player in the world will promote the best tourist destination in Europe."

Nadal has previously been spotted enjoying the holiday hotspots of his home island.

The Daily Mail reported that he returned to Majorca's sandy beaches for a break following his Wimbledon victory this summer.
