01 05 2007
The Royal Show is one of South Africa's oldest and most venerated festivals and attracts over a quarter of a million people every year.
Known as the "the Royal" by many, the show runs from May 25th to June 3rd and is a cornucopia of exotic sights and sounds.
Some of the finest crafts from around the KwaZulu-Natal region are displayed in the 13 different exhibition halls, which have 350 stalls between them.
Also included in the show are orchestral concerts, show-jumping, fireworks and a display of vintage tractors which won't fail to impress even the most jaded visitor.
Since being established in 1851 the Royal Show has functioned as a gathering place for friends, families, tourists and farmers.
Called the garden province, Kwazulu-Natal is one of the most beautiful areas of southern Africa.
With a hilly interior and a coast that boasts beautiful unspoiled beaches, the area has become a magnet for tourists.
