2008 News Archive - Holidays - Split holidays 'mean more breaks'

25 03 2008

The Easter holiday escape is not over for many Britons despite the conclusion of Easter bank holiday weekend, it has been reported.

According to the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta), school holidays are split this year meaning that the peak travel periods fall over three weeks rather than one week.

Abta claims that this means in addition to taking a break over the bank holiday weekend, many Brits will be taking another two-week holiday during April.

Regions that attracted the Brits over bank holiday weekend included the Canary Islands, with Tenerife a favourite resort for many.

The Balearic Islands were also in demand while regions likely to attract holidaymakers over the remaining Easter holidays include Egypt, Morocco and the US

Justin Fleming, president of Abta, noted that many Brits will be spending this Easter "topping up their tans".
