2008 News Archive - Holidays - Summer holidays remain constant for Brits

25 04 2008

Despite some concerns about rising costs in the UK, there is one thing that Britons refuse to compromise on, it has been reported - the traditional summer holiday.

According to My Child, an education resource for parents who wish to support their children's learning both at home and school, 95 per cent of British families are "definitely" or "very probably" taking a holiday this year.

One third of this total have already booked a holiday, with 66.1 per cent yet to have booked the break.

"Overall the results of the survey tie in with research conducted by Mintel two years ago which showed that families are increasingly seeing the family holiday break as a necessity rather than a luxury," Denise Roberts, resource manager at My Child, said.

Top foreign destinations for parents intending to take their children on holiday this summer were revealed to be Spain and France, despite a recent report by the Post Office into costly eurozone holidays.

America and Greece were also revealed to be hotspots for travel this summer.
