Brits can get more out of their holiday if they become involved in experiencing the abundance of cultural activities a country has to offer, an expert in the travel industry has said.
Responsible travel, according to Krissy Pentland from Responsibletravel.com, brings holidaymakers closer to experiencing the culture and traditions of a country.
Ms Pentland claims that travellers get a "deeper experience" from their holiday and get more out of the break.
"It is about bringing you closer to local cultures and environments by involving local people in tourism," she explained.
Popular holiday destinations with responsible Brits at the moment include India, Egypt and Kenya, Ms Pentland noted. These are countries that are particularly ingrained with a rich fabric of customs, rituals and traditions.
These comments follow yesterday's news, as holidaymakers were urged to research local food and culture by the British Heart Foundation, so as not to binge on bad food when away.
