2008 News Archive - Holidays - Try Dubai for winter sun

08 01 2008

Winter sun seekers may be interested in a desert holiday in Dubai to beat the January blues, the Sun has suggested.

The newspaper named the city as a top travel destination this winter, as it has a number of activities on offer including camel safaris and exploring the desert in a four-wheel vehicle.

Shoppers will certainly be interested in the city's vast Gold Souk - which contains more than 275 shops in an area measuring half a square kilometre - and mega malls, while food lovers may wish to dine at Verre, which is overseen by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

According to DubaiCityGuide.com, around 95 per cent of tourists purchase at least one gold item while visiting the city, which is considered to be the Middle East supply hub for the region's jewellery market.

In addition, fashion-forward travellers to Dubai will want to keep an eye on the recently announced Isla Moda - the world's first island dedicated to fashion - which will include a hotel and a number of themed villas, in addition to hundreds of boutiques representing top global designers.
