Political bigwigs in Washington were treated to a sumptuous traditional feast at the Sri Lankan ambassador's residence recently, created especially for them by the islands most celebrated chef.
Representatives from the US state department and department of justice were treated to traditional Sri Lankan delicacies such as Komm Pittu, Fish Cutlets and Watalappan - a type of desert, according to the Sri Lanka's Daily News.
The dishes were all prepared by Dr T Publis, one of Sri Lanka's most celebrated chefs, who travelled to the US especially to showcase his countrys varied and exotic cuisine.
Tourists who have had the privilege of visiting Sri Lanka have long enjoyed the delectable foods served up by the inhabitants of this tropical Indian Ocean isle and perhaps the country's ambassador to the US wished to show Washington what it's missing.
The Daily News reported that the head of Sri Lankan tourism was present at the banquet.
Recently, Sri Lankan tourism made headlines for its earth lung project, which it claims represents the future of sustainable tourism.
