Visit the Barcelona Aquarium

When in Barcelona, visitors should be sure to visit the city's aquarium, which is considered one of the best in Europe.

The Barcelona Aquarium has an almost unrivalled collection of sea dwellers of every kind.

It features creatures from as far away as the polar waters of the southern hemisphere, to as close as the Mediterranean, which is just next door.

There are over 300 species in 21 different tanks for visitors to marvel at.

Undoubtedly the highlight of the aquarium is the shark tunnel, a long glass passageway outside of which the most efficient predators known to man glide by in unruffled self-assurance.

Another display not to be missed is the Amazon river reconstruction, replete with voracious piranhas and grinning caymans.

However, if the denizens of the deep aren't to your fancy, then Barcelona has almost countless other sites to please the eye, including Gaudi's stunningly beautiful Sagrada Familia church.
