Take a lick of the Cornetto Music Festival
June 22 2007
Italy's Cornetto Music Festival is one of the most exciting and popular summer music festivals in the world.
Taking place during most of June, the festival consists of a variety of free outdoor concerts in some of Italy's most spectacular cities.
Milan's Piazza Duomo, Rome's Piazza del Popolo and Naples' Piazza del Popolo will each hold a concert.
Every year this festival attracts some of the biggest names in international music. Last year saw the ageing-but-still-potent rocker Sting play in both Milan and Naples.
And the Black Eyed Peas played to an ecstatic crowd in Rome.
During summer, few cities in Europe can rival Rome for sheer beauty, with its long, meandering sun-gilded streets and amazing architecture.
Visitors should not miss visiting the Coliseum, testament to the power of the mighty Roman Empire.
The centre of this magnificent city has been labelled a Unesco World Heritage Site.
Rome is currently Italy's largest city, boasting a population of 2.7 million.
