Dubai transport system on route to completion
October 15 2007
Authorities in Dubai have announced that the new Green Line transportation system is now 11 per cent of the way to completion.
Designed to facilitate better links between business regions such as Health Care City, Al Ittihad Square and Deira, the system will have six stations underground and 12 elevated, Gulf Daily News reports.
According to trade publication railway-technology.com, the carriages are set to be among the most advanced in the world, perhaps unsurprisingly for a country that aims to break down barriers in comfort and luxury.
Other modern marvels in the emirate include the Burj-Al Arab, a hotel which claims to be the only seven-star destination in the world.
The stunning structure, shaped to look like a "billowing sail", stands at an impressive 321 metres tall on the picturesque coastline.
"At night, it offers an unforgettable sight, surrounded by choreographed colour sculptures of water and fire. This all-suite hotel reflects the finest that the world has to offer," its officials state.
