Long-haul destinations 'offer guaranteed sunshine in spring'

Holidaymakers looking to travel abroad over Easter have been advised that long-haul destinations can offer them guaranteed sunshine.

According to Thomas Cook, there are a "wide" variety of destinations that will be popular this Easter.

And, because of the extra day holiday available, some families take advantage of the school holidays and travel to a long-haul destination for early summer sun.

These are the destinations where you are guaranteed good weather, a spokesperson for the company advised.

"Family favourites of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote are popular retreats at Easter as they have something for everyone; great value, ideal weather ... going further afield - Egypt, South Africa and Thailand are definite hot spots," she added.

The Guild of Travel Management Companies recently reported that 14 million travel bookings were made in 2007 by its members.
