Brits advised: Opt for package
UK holidaymakers have been warned against "doing it yourself" and instead choosing package holidays this summer.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) up to 20 million consumers could be making financial risks by taking do-it-yourself summer breaks.
The CAA is warning that such mix and match holidays from different suppliers are not covered under its Air Travel Organiser's Licensing financial protection scheme and is instead promoting package holidays, which it claims offer peace of mind.
The "benefits" of booking all elements of a holiday together with one company means that the company is responsible for all aspects of the holiday, meaning that they must make alternative arrangements should anything unexpected occur.
ATOL spokesman David Clover said: "Booking an entire holiday with one travel company does not mean that consumers have to compromise flexibility for protection. Many of the major online holiday operators allow holidaymakers to build their own tailored break."
