travel news - Demand For Euro Currency Is 'higher Than Ever'
Demand for euro currency is 'higher than ever'
August 21 2008
British holidaymakers are as keen as ever to escape to European beach holiday destinations such as Majorca and the Canary Islands, according to a new report.
Research carried out by the Post Office revealed that demand for euro currency is over eight per cent higher than last year, proving that the credit crunch has not deterred people from taking their hard-earned holidays.
Furthermore, it was found that one third of Brits plan to travel abroad this year and say that they will do so "no matter how bad the economy gets".
Commenting on the research, Helen Warburton, Post Office head of travel, said: "The continuing growth in demand for euros shows that most holidaymakers are not deserting summer sun favourites like Spain, Greece and France."
She added that countries such as Turkey, Croatia and Sweden were also proving popular this year.
Meanwhile, a recent study by Cater Allen Private Bank revealed that 43 per cent of Britons need regular holidays to boost their mental wellbeing.
