I first came on holiday to the Algarve ten years ago, and I have been coming back every year since and at least twice a year!

There is a resort for everyone as each one has something different to offer. If it is nightlife you are after, then Albufeira has it all with both the 'Old Town' and 'New Town' boasting bars, restaurants and nightclubs. I always used to holiday in Albufeira, but now I much prefer the western Algarve with its family friendly atmosphere.

However, for me, it is not the nightlife or atmosphere that sucks me in, it is the beaches - there are over seventy along the Algarve coast, each one completely different to the next offering various watersports, and also many different types of bars and restaurants depending on the beach! My favourite beach has to be Vale de Centianes, which is secluded with beautiful golden sands and turquoise waters all surrounded by sandstone cliffs - when the tide goes out, there is even a hidden cave which you can walk through when you fancy a break from the sunshine.

If dining out is your thing, then there are ample restaurants to suit all tastes, from typical Portuguese cuisine to British pub grub. You can't come here though and not sample the seafood; there's nothing quite like tucking into fresh sardines that have been caught and brought to shore in the early evening by the many fishermen. When I first started holidaying here I'd never touch seafood, as I never enjoyed it at home, however now, it is my first choice every time - it is delicious and there is so much choice. But if seafood isn't for you, then the Algarve is also the home of Piri-Piri chicken.

However, if you want more than lazing around in the sun and eating out, there are lots of excursions on offer, such as waterparks, jeep safaris showing you the 'real' Algarve, and day trips to places like Lisbon and Seville or coastal tours - there really is something for everyone here and a holiday to suit all budgets, don't just take my word for it, try it yourself!
