Benidorm has earned itself a reputation over the years as the typical Britain in the sun resort because of its British pubs serving traditional British fayre, as well as fish & chip shops, fast food burger joints, Indian restaurants and much more. Well it would certainly be untrue to say that it doesn't deserve this label to some extent, and if you want a real fun-packed holiday with all or some of the above, along with a fabulous climate, long sandy beaches and bar/night clubs with amazing cabaret acts and hilarious comedians, then this definitely is the place for you.

The main area where all this can be found runs parallel to the Levante beach and is generally where the best hotels and apartments are found. Over the last few years the hotel owners have made a lot of investment and the resort boasts a wealth of 3 and 4 star hotels and self-catering apartments for almost everybody's taste and pocket.

There is more to it than just 'Britain in the sun' though, and nestled in between Levante beach and the quieter more residential Poniente beach, is Benidorm's old town or as they call it in Spanish the 'casco antiguo'. Here, as well as there being a wealth of shops and boutiques with something for everything, you will find tapas bars to rival any in Spain. They are all situated within three or four narrow streets and are often one next to the other, which makes it all perfect for a sumptuous tapas crawl!

For more active pursuits, the resort offers some of the best fun parks anywhere in the Med! There is Terra Mitica with some hair-raising roller coaster rides and incredible shows, then Terra Natura which is a new generation wildlife park, which I really enjoyed. Fantastic wet and wild thrills can be found at the Aqualandia water slide park, and amazing dolphin, sea lion and parrot shows can be seen at Mundomar.

For me, Benidorm does do exactly what it says on the tin, but much, much more besides!
