One of Koh Samui’s more upmarket destinations, Choeng Mon is a series of bays with gorgeous white sandy beaches. Choeng Mon Beach itself is on a small, but stunning bay. The beach is wide and welcoming with a rocky outcrop at one end and a small island at the other that can be reached by paddling through the warm sea. This is an ideal family holiday place, because there is very little here in the way of backpacker accommodation as all the facilities are supplied by the hotels and resorts. Relaxing on the beach, swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving are all on offer as Choeng Mon is famous for its water sports. You can even hire kayaks to paddle gently around this safe, beautiful bay.

Choeng Mon attracts an older package holiday crowd so the ambience is far quieter here than on the noisier stretches of Chaweng or even Bo Phut. As the hotels are the focus for catering and entertainment you won’t find the street vendors selling the spicier local food here, it tends to be a more international variation of the cuisine, though there are several small restaurants just off the beach. The big advantage for those on a family holiday is that as the hotels are built on larger grounds they have much bigger swimming pools so there is always the choice available.
