Karon Beach : Holiday Accommodation

Situated 20km from Phuket Town and just south of Patong, Karon Beach is much quieter than its neighbours, despite now having many restaurants and a number of bars and shops. The main draw of a package holiday to Karon Beach is its wonderful, long white stretch of sand that never feels overcrowded even though it is extremely popular. The second largest of Phuket’s tourist beaches, it is relatively underdeveloped, but due to the calm, warm waters, there is a great range of water sports on offer and the southern point has a coral reef stretching towards Kata and Bu Island.

As well as having plenty of bars and restaurants, Karon Beach is good for shopping, and the wide beachside avenue is ideal for taking an evening stroll. The small side streets are worth exploring for the individual artists selling their unique artwork, particularly one which leads to a small art community, where budding Thai painters have built a complex of huts, pubs and art galleries in which they live and work. Although a Karon Beach holiday can’t offer nightlife to rival that of Patong’s, the more modest entertainment and restaurant options do provide a bustling yet relaxed atmosphere in the resort.
