More DealsTurkey: Introduction
From the classic Mediterranean climate, beautiful beaches, warm seas, mouth-watering meze food, to the excellent array of activities and well-preserved ancient architecture, a cheap package holiday to Turkey has something for everyone and is also perfect for all inclusive holidays.
Reasons to visit
Turkey offers a wide variety of beach resorts, from developed long sandy stretches with buzzing promenades to sheltered bays next to fishing villages nestled under rugged natural landscape. You’re bound to find inviting azure, crystal-clear waters that are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving. Prevailing winds on the Aegean Coast as well as the Mediterranean Coast make Turkey a fantastic destination for those wanting to add some action-packed thrills and spills to their cheap beach holiday. Surfing, windsurfing, jet-skiing and sailing are available to try at most resorts. Holiday destinations clustered around Bodrum are particularly good for water sports.
After the sun has set you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining and nightlife on a cheap holiday to Turkey. Turkish regional cuisine is delicious and amazing examples can be found at all resorts and settlements. There is also superb fresh seafood to savour in the coastal areas. You will find lovely local produce available at many of the market towns such as the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, the fish market in Fethiye and the Saturday morning market in Bodrum. These are great places to barter for a bargain and pick up fine specimens of Turkish pottery, leather, lace and clothes for loved ones back home. After a busy day pounding the pavements you can relax with a famous traditional Turkish massage at one of the ‘hammam’ bath houses.
Things to see and do
Those wanting to add some cultural punch to their Turkey package holiday will be pleased to know that the country is littered with historic sites, one of the finest examples being the internationally renowned Ephesus. Just 30km away from west coast Kusadasi, Ephesus was home to The Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Nature lovers will be equally pleased with the number of wide-open green spaces to explore. There is no shortage of national parks and several of these protected areas include beaches such as Dilek on the west coast and the iconic blue lagoon beach at Olu Deniz on the Turquoise Coast.
Often the best way to see the incredible scenery during a package holiday to Turkey is from the sea. Countless tour companies offer highly enjoyable boat trips that include deep sea fishing, dolphin watching and sea-cave cruising. Those wanting to venture further afield can enjoy a boat trip to Kos or Rhodes in Greece.
Kids attractions
Turkey is famously family-friendly and a great choice for a family holiday. You can find plenty to keep kids happy from sheltered beaches, boat trips, jeep safaris, go-karting and horse riding to some of the largest water parks in Europe.
Turkey Weather
The main factor attracting sun-seekers for a cheap beach holiday to Turkey year after year is the amazing weather. Turkey enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine a year with temperatures often exceeding 30C in June, July and August. The mild winters also make Turkey a serious consideration for those after winter sun.
