Equator Village

  • Maldives

What a treat is in store at the Equator Village, starting with your flight from Malé. Your 90-minute flight will take you the length of the Maldives and showcase some truly amazing views of the atolls; you'll also cross the equator, hence the name of the island. However, the main highlight of visiting Equator Village is the incredible diving, known to be one of the best in the country with its vast array of unspoilt coral formations, varied marine life and an impressive wreck dive.

Diamond rating:

Equator Village

A former British air base - this area is different to the other islands - which you'll discover evidence of, both on the island itself (best explored by bicycle) and in the hotel which is set amidst tranquil gardens. There is a house reef about 25 metres from the resort beach which is a great place to go snorkelling and diving, and is rich with colourful coral and fish.

The diving base offers PADI Open Water and Advanced courses, with instructors who are well versed in the local dive sites. This really is a diver's paradise with ship wreck dives and the chance to see large manta rays, sharks and turtles.

If diving isn't for you, the complimentary snorkelling excursions offer an outstanding alternative experience, or simply snorkel or swim directly from the hotel.

Location

In the southernmost tip of the Maldives archipelago, 400 kilometres from Malé in Addu Atoll, approximately 90 minutes by domestic aircraft (included in the price of your holiday - you may need to wait in Malé prior to transfer to the island).
