Day 1

UK - St Petersburg

Fly to St Petersburg where you will be met and transferred to your ship, MS Rostropovich. This evening, enjoy dinner and entertainment on board.

Day 2

St Petersburg

After breakfast on board, explore the history-rich city of St Petersburg on a spectacular panoramic coach tour. St Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia and the country’s cultural heart. You'll visit some of the most famous sights including the Exchange, Palace Square and the magnificent Winter Palace, St Isaac’s Cathedral, Cathedral of the Saviour on the Spilled Blood and the city’s main thoroughfare, Nevsky Prospekt. Your tour includes entrance to the world renowned Hermitage museum. The winter palace of Catherine the Great is one of the biggest museums in the world and houses a magnificent collection of art and over 2.7 million items, including masterpieces of Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael, Rodin, Rembrandt, Rubens and the French impressionists. Return to the ship for dinner on board.

Day 3

Mandrogui

Today you'll get a chance to sample a traditional Russian BBQ lunch in the historic village of Mandrogui, located to the north of St Petersburg on the shores of the River Svir. The charming village is a representation of traditional Russian life with wooden buildings, a vodka museum and craft centre. You can watch local recipes being made and visit the farms which are tended by the local villagers. Relax and enjoy your evening on board with the ship's Gala Concert.

Day 4

Kizhi

After breakfast and entertainment on board, visit the Island of Kizhi located in Lake Onega. The island is famous for its collection of wooden churches and is home to the impressive centrepiece of a 22-domed Church of the Transfiguration, built completely without the use of nails. The Island is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is the highlight of any Russian river cruise. Entrance includes the open-air museum of wooden architecture and a typical Karelian House. Return to the boat for a pirate themed dinner, followed by entertainment on board.

Day 5

Goritsy

Today, explore the tiny settlement of Goritsy on the edge of the White Lake. With its medieval atmosphere, the main attractions of this picturesque river town are the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery and the Goritsy Nunnery. The Monastery of St. Cyril was founded in 1397 and is an impressive ensemble of priories, churches and historical references. In the evening a Russian-style dinner and entertainment await you on board.

Day 6

Uglich

Visit the town of Uglich on the Volga River, first documented in 1148 and still containing some of the finest samples of Russian architecture. The town lays claim to the suspicious death of Dmitry Ivanov, son of Ivan the Terrible, who was exiled to Uglich after his father’s death in 1584 but was found dead in questionable circumstances seven years later. The Church of St Dmitry on the Blood, which can be seen on the horizon as your ship sails towards the town, was built in Dmitry’s memory. In the evening, enjoy a Ukrainian dinner and entertainment on board.

Day 7

Moscow

Arrive in Moscow and begin your discovery of the 860 plus year-old capital city of Russia after lunch. Moscow's history is evident everywhere you look in the city, with the modern and ancient existing side by side. On your panoramic tour visit some of the iconic sights including the Red Square, St Basil’s Cathedral and the famous red brick walls of the Kremlin – the former residence of the Russian Tsars. Enjoy lunch in a city centre restaurant and then continue your exploration of the Kremlin, the Tsar’s Cannon and Bell and one of the magnificent cathedrals housed within Cathedral Square. Return to the ship for your farewell dinner and entertainment.

Moscow - UK

After breakfast, disembark and transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK.
