Your launchpad for the Eternal City, Civitavecchia has been Rome's seaport for 8 centuries. Italy's capital is a feast for the senses, with a procession of spectacular monuments and landmarks, from the magnificent Colosseum and Trevi Fountain to St Peter's Basilica and the remarkable Sistine Chapel ceiling, painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512.
Italy's third-largest city, Naples, is home to the pizza, graceful buildings, a chaotic old town and other landmarks including an elaborate Opera House and medieval castles. It's also a convenient base for a host of nearby treasures, from the haunting ruins of Pompeii to glitzy Capri and the Amalfi Coast.
An 8th century Greek colony, Messina is your gateway for some of Sicily's greatest sights. Perhaps take optional excursion to the beautiful clifftop seaside resort of Taormina, which boasts a stunning Greco-Roman theatre or head for Mount Etna, Europe's largest active volcano.
Today your ship is docked in Kerkira also known as Corfu Town, capital of lush Corfu. Delve into the cobbled Old Town, which testifies to the island's past under the Venetians, French and English, visit St. Spiridon Church and sip coffee in the arcaded Liston overlooking the Esplanade.
Known as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic', the walled old town of Dubrovnik is a medieval tour-de-force stuffed with creamy stone buildings, cobblestoned alleyways and ornate palaces. Admire the 17th century cathedral, Rector's Palace and Dominican Monastery, stroll the immaculate Stradun and shop for souvenirs in the hidden squares and lanes.
Glide into Montenegro's spectacular Bay of Kotor this morning and soak up the romantic atmosphere. Known locally as the 'Boka Kotorska', the islet is considered to be the only fjord in the Mediterranean and is renowned for its stunning scenery of glassy waters, luxuriant vegetation and soaring mountains. Extending over 4-km, the city walls that have protected Kotor for centuries lead up to the fortress of Saint Ivan.
