Good points - comfortable ship. Excellent food. Super staff. Varied programme of visits to interesting places.
Bad points - Bearing in mind that all travel arrangements are made by Cosmos, we arrived at the ship at about 3pm to be told that embarkation is not until 6pm. And no we could not wait in the lounge. We were basically told to go away and come back later although they did then change the embarkation time to 4.30. We were able to leave our luggage and the weather was fine so we went for a wander. I would not have been impressed if it had been pouring with rain.
My other complaint is that everything on board was geared to the French guests. There were a number of on board activities conducted entirely in French with no intention of including the English guests.
Finally some guides were far too wordy with no time left to explore independently particularly in Avignon where virtually the whole visit was spent in the Popes Palace with in depth historical details.
It was exactly what we wanted and expected
Standard of crew and cleanliness First rate.
The Camargue Trip was a huge dissapointment. We were taken to a
Bull Ranch to see a few bulls and ,3 horse riders,in a 50 degree heat.
Then left in a coastal village for an hour . At 138 Euros for two people
We thought it a bit of a Rip Off. Not good value for money.
We had a major problem with return driver from Gatwick Airport.
Excellent - very satisfied.
Our third Croisi cruise bu not up to the standard of the first two.
Quality of food and wine not so good. Quantity of food too much. A plethora of lettuce.
Atmosphere lacked some of the lightheartedness but the staff were excellent.
Problems with lock failure handled well.
From arrival at Lyon Airport, the meet and greet was efficient, to the MS Camargue and its crew were as hoped for, the food was excellent.
The only point of note, breakfast could be extended to a finish at 09.30, it is a holiday after all.
The cruise was lovely: v.helpful & friendly ship's staff, good food, very interesting trips off the boat which were well spaced out & the weather was hot and sunny. Who could wish for more?
Total meals included:
Travel to Lyon and transfer to the MS Camargue for embarkation. After setting into your cabin, the crew will be introduced at a welcome cocktail. After dinner, an evening of entertainment awaits.
After breakfast, enjoy the day at leisure or join an optional guided tour of Lyon, France's delicious gastronomic capital, positioned on the Rhône and Saône rivers, with a UNESCO-listed medieval centre and impressive Roman ruins. Lyon's charm lies in its colourful riverfront buildings and impressive 2,000 years of history reflected in its centre. Discover medieval and renaissance architecture, take advantage of the superb shopping opportunities and sample some of the adventurous food that the city has to offer. After lunch, set sail for Mâcon and admire views of the charming Burgundy countryside. This evening, enjoy entertainment and dancing after dinner on board your ship.
Today, enjoy an optional excursion to the famous Abbey of Cluny. The Benedictine Abbey was the nerve-centre of monastic reform in the Middle Ages and was the world's largest until St Peter's Basilica was rebuilt in Rome in the 16th-century. Although most of the Abbey stands in ruins, you still get a great sense of the size and glory of the Abbey. After lunch back on board, cruise towards Vienne.
Overlooking the Rhône, the town of Vienne was once Rome's major wine port. With visible Gallo-Roman heritage and spectacular Roman ruins, this divine riverfront city is full of photo opportunities. This morning, enjoy free time to explore the Roman monuments and medieval churches or join the optional sightseeing tour. This afternoon, take the opportunity to relax on board as you cruise along the Rhône towards Arles and continue the journey through the night.
After breakfast, explore Arles on an optional tour. This stunning town has a spectacular Roman arena and is know to have inspired the painter, Van Gogh, with its enchanting light. Stroll the winding streets and see the 20,000-seater Les Arenes stadium which once hosted chariot and gladiator contests. From here, head into the Provençal countryside to learn how the region's prized olive oil is produced. This afternoon, perhaps join an optional excursion into the Camargue, the river delta of the Rhône. This nature reserve is host to the famous Camargue ponies and an incredible array of birdlife. An evening of traditional Provençal entertainment awaits you onboard tonight.
Set sail early this morning towards Avignon. A stunning medieval town once the home of Popes, Avignon is famed for its arched bridge immortalised in the well-known song. An optional sightseeing tour takes in the mighty City of Popes citadel, whose court once attracted Europe's artists and intellectuals, and the famous bridge, standing in its shadow. After lunch cruise towards Viviers, built on a hillside, the quaint town is a jumble of cobbled lanes and stone houses built around a 12th-century cathedral. Enjoy an optional tour exploring the maze-like streets and the views over the river.
Admire the views as you cruise today. In the afternoon you'll arrive in the attractive village of Tournon, with its castle, monuments and spectacular views. An optional guided tour takes in the Castle-Museum of Tournon-sur-Rhône followed by a tasting of local wines and regional delicacies. Later, return to your ship for a gala dinner and evening. The ship will cruise through the night to Lyon.
After breakfast, disembark your ship and transfer to the airport or station for your return to the UK.
