Jasper National Park

Explore glacial lakes, wild elks and magnificent mountains on a tour in Jasper

Jasper National Park covers a colossal expanse of some of Canada’s most beautiful scenery. Soaring mountains, glacier-fed lakes, wild herds of elk, and thundering waterfalls: venture deep into the Canadian Rockies and you’ll discover a world of fairy-tale beauty and untamed nature.

Given that it extends across almost 11,000 square kilometres, Jasper provides more than a few sightseeing opportunities for intrepid travellers. But there are several spectacular highlights that everyone should be sure to discover. Maligne Lake – the largest glacially fed lake in the Canadian portion of the mountain range – is one of them. Famous for its brilliant turquoise waters, it’s best discovered by boat. Go on a cruise to Spirit Island before embarking on a hike in the nearby Maligne Canyon.

Another unforgettable experience awaits at the Athabasca Glacier. The most visited glacier in North America, and part of the sprawling Columbia Icefield, this is the perfect place for an ice tour. From the glacier, it’s only an hour-long journey to the mighty Athabasca Falls, another popular Jasper attraction.

And when you want a soothing respite in between the wild adventures? The charming town of Jasper is full of comforts, from specialty boutiques and convivial restaurants to cosy Canadian lodges.
