Holiday frequently asked questions and essential information.
This is a totally new concept for us where you stay in one hotel for the duration of the trip, so only need to unpack once and day trips are included as well as free time.
All inclusions are specified on the product itinerary page, for example in Stratford and York we include car parking at the hotel for your convenience, whereas Jersey and Scotland we offer flight packages that would include airport transfers.
Only if you are exploring in your free time. Any reservations made at National Trust facilities are made on a group touring contract and therefore personal memberships are invalid.
This can vary depending on the Touring type and destination. Smaller Group Touring is for groups with an average of 25 passengers and our classic touring is approximately 35 passengers but it could be more. Your travel specialist will be able to advise you the exact number for your chosen tour.
Our inclusions for each tour differ so please check the itinerary page for your particular tour to see the meal breakdown.
All our Touring Coaches are air-conditioned, with the only exception being Safari vehicles. Over many years of touring, we have found it better for all concerned not to use the on-board toilet facility (where they exist). Our itineraries make frequent comfort stops, therefore we aim never to be travelling non-stop for more than 2-3 hours.

We offer daily rotation of seating, which gives everyone a variety of views.
Many hotels offer popular buffet style meals, either in full or part. On occasion, when on a tour meals may not be taken at your accommodation but at a nearby restaurant. In a few cases, additional optional events may be organised by the hotelier and any charge for these may be paid for locally. If breakfast is included in the price of your holiday please note that some accommodation may not be able to provide a full breakfast for early morning departures and will instead prepare a packed breakfast. Most cruise lines offer set meal times on board. Smaller vessels may be limited to one sitting. Larger Ocean cruise lines also offer specialist dining options at a subsidised fee payable on-board. Not all hotels/ships offer a choice of menu.
Our tour only bookings include accommodation, Wi-Fi on the coach, inter-hotel coach transfers. Meals and excursions are only included where detailed. Porterage is not included at train stations or airports or on Cosmos 2022. No flights or airport transfers are applicable for tour only bookings. From 2021 onwards airport transfers are no longer provided in North America and you will have to make your own arrangements to and from the airport on your first and last day.
If you have booked to travel on a date that is not currently guaranteed for departure we would strongly advise you not to book your flights until your tour date has been confirmed, as any amendments may incur airline penalty charges.
Gratuities are not included for services unless otherwise stated. Therefore, any gratuities for your Tour Director, Local Hosts, Local Guides, Driver and Ship’s Crew are not included in the holiday price and are discretionary. While the amount you tip will depend upon your degree of satisfaction with the service provided, we have been asked for guidelines. For a job well done we suggest 6 Euro(or the applicable currency) per person per day for your Tour Director and 6 Euro( or other currency) per person per day for your driver. Please also refer to your final travel documentation for further guidance.
This does depend on the itinerary, but even if you are travelling all day, the coach will make frequent stops for photo opportunities, viewpoints and of course comfort stops.
This will depend on the type of holiday booked. Please check the holiday itinerary and the Ready to Go travel document that will be sent shortly before your departure. This will specify how you will be transferred to your destination.
We are part of the Globus family of brands, so you may be travelling with customers from our colleagues in North America & Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa
On certain tours we tell you the maximum elevation; this is because travellers that live in the UK are not generally accustomed to living at altitude, and you need to be aware of the effects. Altitude sickness can vary from mild headaches to quite serious illness, so you should bear this in mind and check with your own Doctor if you have any pre existing medical conditions. For tours of North and South America we indicate the maximum height above sea level for the tour. All heights are approximate. Maximum heights are for the basic tour only and do not include optional extensions or excursions except for the Hawaiian Islands Tour that includes the maximum height for an optional visit to Haleakala National Park, its highest point
We regret that in certain circumstances, where tours are not guaranteed, we may only be able to operate if a sufficient number of people are booked. The average tour size is approximately 35 passengers however this can change depending on the tour type, your travel specialist will be able to advise you the exact number for your chosen tour at the time of enquiring.
