Our VIP home pick-up service is included up to 50 miles to your departure airport. Your driver will happily load and unload your luggage, and drive you to your departure terminal. At the close of your trip, you'll be welcomed by your driver in the arrivals hall and returned home again. A supplement is payable per mile over 50 miles.

Once dubbed the 'Paris of the Orient', cosmopolitan and exhilarating Shanghai still retains much of the exuberance of yesteryear. Your included sightseeing tour features the famous Yuyuan Garden and the atmospheric Old Town. This afternoon, take a stroll on the colonial Bund before exploring a number of cultural artefacts at the Shanghai Museum. The last stop of the afternoon is at a silk museum. This evening, take a cruise on the Huangpu River before dining on delicious Shanghainese cuisine.

Shanghai - Xi'an

After checkout you'll stop at Shanghai's financial district, Pudong before transferring to the airport for your onward flight to Xi'an, the ancient capital of China. This evening, dine on classic East Asian cuisine and watch a traditional Tang Dynasty show.

Today, explore one of China's most significant archaeological discoveries, the Terracotta Warriors. These life-sized ceramic figurines were created during the Qin Dynasty (211 - 206 BC) to protect the first Emperor of China in the afterlife. Visit the Xi'an Art, Ceramic & Lacquer Exhibition Centre where you'll watch similar terracotta sculptures being made before taking a walk along the 14th-century city walls which surround Xi'an Old Town.

Xi'an - Lhasa

This morning, visit the important Small Wild Goose Pagoda before exploring the fine cultural relics housed at the Xi'an Museum. Afterwards, transfer to the airport for your flight to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet otherwise known as the 'Roof of the World' for its high altitude. Once you arrive you'll be transferred to your hotel for three nights and the rest of the day is free for you to acclimatise to the city.

You'll start your touring day at Jokhang, a Buddhist temple with mixed Indian and East Asian architectural styles, before walking the Barkhor Circuit, a popular devotional circumambulation for pilgrims, locals and tourists. The final stop of the day is the Sera Monastery, one of the 'Great Three' monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism in the city.

Today your cultural journey continues with a visit to the Potala Palace. Located on the summit of Marpo Ri (Red Mountain), the Potala Palace is the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama before his exile to India. After lunch, continue on to the Dalai Lama's former summer residence in Norbulingka, now popular for its landscaped gardens. In the evening, enjoy delicious local dishes.

Fly to Beijing, the capital of China and the country's political, social and historical hub. Once you arrive you'll be transferred to your hotel for three nights and the rest of the day is free for you to explore.

Start the morning with a walk through the historical Tiananmen Square before entering the Forbidden City, the best-preserved imperial palace in China and largest ancient palatial structure in the world. This afternoon, visit the spiritual Temple of Heaven before taking an exciting rickshaw ride through the hutongs (old lanes).

Journey out of Beijing to China's most iconic sight, the Great Wall of China. Enjoy a brief talk on the history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site before walking a short section. Afterwards, visit a Jade museum before heading back to the city where you will end the afternoon with a scenic stroll through the Summer Palace. This evening you'll enjoy an exciting acrobatic show.
