Today starts with a visit to Edinburgh Castle. With its dramatic views across the city and entrance to the exhibition housed in the castle, 'Honours of the Kingdom', which consists of the Scottish Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny, Edinburgh Castle is a must-see. This afternoon, delight in a feast with a two-course lunch followed by a tutored tasting at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. 28 Queen Street is an impressive four-storey Georgian building, comprising a suite of modern and elegant rooms. Its past visitors include the great and the good of the Scottish Enlightenment and it continues to welcome guests in luxurious Scottish fashion. Your personal Whiskey Ambassador will guide you through an entertaining tasting experience, as you discover the Society's rare single cask whiskies. The remainder of the afternoon is free to explore the city and have dinner at your leisure.
Today you are free to soak up the atmosphere of the Edinburgh Festival; there are street performances, pop-up restaurants, free shows and much more to discover. Later, you're in for a real treat as you attend the internationally acclaimed Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The year 2017 (4-26 August) will see the 68th extravaganza to be staged at the Scottish capital's ancient Castle - a spectacular and inspiring backdrop for this remarkable event. With innovative production, heart-stopping sound, imaginative graphics, state-of-the-art lighting and specially commissioned fireworks, the 90-minute show is set to captivate a large cosmopolitan audience. The line-up of nearly 1000 performers includes hundreds of musicians, pipers, drummers, singers and dancers.
