Set out towards the world-famous winemaking region of Burgundy and stop in Beaune – a walled town with wine as its lifeblood. Discover the old city, where the magnificent Hôtel-Dieu – one of the finest examples of 15th-century French architecture – takes centre stage, and set out exploring in the afternoon.
Head to the stunning outdoor adventure paradise of Interlaken, with a chance to stretch your legs in the lakeside town of Lausanne en route. An afternoon drive past mountain-framed Lac Leman takes you onwards to Bern, the Swiss capital, where you’ll tour the city’s sights before arriving in Interlaken.
From Grindelwald you’ll board the train bound for Jungfraujoch, an Alpine col situated at over 11,000 feet (3,400 metres) above sea level, home to the Sphinx Observatory and breathtaking views. You’ll be able to say you’ve alighted at the highest railway station in Europe, the “Top of Europe”.
Make your way to Entlebuch, designated by UNESCO as the first Swiss biosphere. Visit a local sheep farm and taste the produce before heading on to beautiful Lucerne, with visits to sights such as the Lion Monument and Chapel Bridge.
Lucerne is yours to explore at your own pace today. Take time to wander around the Altstadt (Old Town), or take in the Picasso collection at the Sammlung Rosengart.
Spend time in the stunning lakeside setting of Lugano and stop at a shopping outlet in Mendrisio to get a designer bargain, before the coach makes its way to Milan for the evening.
Spend the day seeing the sights of Milan, a bustling metropolis with a grand Gothic cathedral at its core, famed for is exquisite sense of style and position as Italy’s financial capital.
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
