Fly to Seattle and transfer to your hotel. This evening meet your travelling companions and tour director for a welcome drink.
Leave Seattle and travel to the Bavarian Village of Leavenworth. After lunch, there will be time to wander the streets of this remodelled alpine village - set against the snowy Cascade Mountains - and visit the Nutcracker Museum. Continue to Spokane where your evening is free. Perhaps sample some of the regional wines or stroll along the banks of the Spokane River.
Visit Manito Park and Botanical Garden on a morning sightseeing tour; an attractive 90-acre park of spacious manicured lawns, arboretum and greenhouse conservatory. Travel along the scenic Pend Oreille River into Idaho, stopping off in Sandpoint on its shores to browse the boutiques and galleries. Continue to Whitefish, Montana, just outside Glacier National Park for three nights.
Enjoy a full day exploring the epic beauty of Glacier National Park; its headwaters source the streams that flow to the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and Hudson's Bay. Board the vintage Red Jammer buses to travel along one of North America's most spectacular highways – the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Cross the 6,664 ft high Logan Pass for a visual feast of towering mountain peaks, deep green forests, pristine lakes, and colourful wildflowers.
Explore the elegant Norman-style Conrad Mansion on a guided tour this morning; a well-preserved example of luxurious 19th century living with exquisitely landscaped gardens. Afterwards, enjoy a gondola ride to the top of Whitefish Mountain for superb surrounding views. The rest of the day is at leisure. This evening, enjoy a cowboy sing-along and old fashioned ranch BBQ.
This morning travel along the eye-catching shores of Flathead Lake - the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi; and on to Wallace, Idaho, to tour the Sierra Silver Mine. Plunge into its dark underground recesses and learn the history of the region’s mining from a local miner. Later arrive at the shores of the grand Lake Coeur D'Alene for a sightseeing cruise. Tonight why not explore the quaint downtown area with its shops, restaurants and galleries?
Journey to Hells Canyons to see America’s deepest river gorge; your cruise takes you past more than 200,000 acres of high mountain peaks, thrilling vistas and ominous canyon rims. See ancient petroglyphs left by the Nez Perce Indians and enjoy your captain's folklore tales. Included is a BBQ lunch along the river as you admire the magnificent surroundings.
Visit Nez Perce National Historic Park, the traditional aboriginal lands which commemorate the history, culture, and stories of the Nez Perce people. Cross into Washington and travel along the Snake River on the same route as Lewis & Clark – when they explored the uncharted West at the behest of US President Thomas Jefferson. Visit the historic Pataha Flour Mill, meet the family that works there and enjoy a homemade lunch. Arrive in Washington's wine country for a winery tour and wine tasting.
En route to Seattle visit Mount Rainier National Park; where subalpine wildflower meadows ring the mighty, snow-capped 14,410-ft.-high peak. Arrive in Seattle where this evening the tour director hosts a farewell dinner.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK, or extend your stay with an Alaskan Cruise or extra nights in Seattle.
