The morning is at leisure. This afternoon transfer to the rail station to start your unforgettable train journey. Following Indian Railway's tracks embark at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus for the Royal City of the Gaekwads to Vadodara.
Drive to the World Heritage site of Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, an ancient town full of ruins. Enjoy High Tea at the magnificent Laxmi Vilas Palace, the exquisite residence of the Royal Family.
The Deccan Odyssey Train arrives at the holy town of Palitana. Enjoy an excursion to Shatrumjai hill, famed for it's spectacular cluster of Jain temples exquisitely carved in marble. Board the train this afternoon for the overnight journey on to Sasan Gir. Take the opportunity to investigate the elegant facilities at your finger tips.
An early start today, accompanied by an expert naturalist to the Gir Forest national park, home of the only surviving 'Lions of Asia' and a myriad variety of birds and other local wildlife. In the evening visit the famous Somnath Temple. The train leaves for Little Rann of Kutch this evening.
Today, see the marshy salt flat desert of Little Rann of Kutch. A unique wilderness that is home to the Indian Will Ass or ghudkhar. There is also time to visit the settlements and villages, renowned for their traditional embroideries and weaving.
Patan is an 8th century world heritage site former fortified town which is renowned for its forts, lakes, holy places. Arrive in Patan this morning. After breakfast, head the sun temple at Modhera. Dedicated to the Sun God, the temple is an architectural masterpiece of sandstone. Besides the intricate carvings, the temple complex has a total of more than 108 shrines. After that, visit the world heritage site of Rani Ki Vav. This 11th century step well is one of the biggest in Gujarat. Then, return to the Deccan Odyssey for lunch. As the train journey continues watch the tapestry of rural India go past as the luxury train continues towards Nashik.
Arrive in Nashik and head to Pandu Leni, one of the most ancient Jain & Buddhist cave temples that date back to the 1st century BC. Newt head to a vineyard for an exclusive tour followed by wine tasting and lunch. This evening, spend time by the Godavari Ghats (gates by the river). Return to the Deccan Odyssey for the overnight journey to Mumbai.
Arrive this morning into Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. Included is a half day city tour of Mumbai. Later transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK.
