Day 2

Anchorage - Whittier - Prince William Sound - Valdez

Today travel to the port community of Whittier, and the gateway to Prince William Sound. View the tunnel built during the World War II era by the Army Corps of Engineers to allow materials to travel undetected into Interior Alaska. This afternoon, board your vessel to travel across the magnificent Prince William Sound. Explore the three-mile face of the mighty Columbia Glacier and hear tales of the region as told by the Alaskan crew. Keep your eyes open and cameras ready for marine wildlife such as otters, seals, and whales while viewing spectacular glaciers. End the journey today in the town of Valdez, nestled between the waterfront and mountains, giving it the nickname, Little Switzerland of Alaska.

Day 3

Valdez - Thompson Pass - Denali Highway - Denali National Park

Today travel over the top of Thompson Pass. Well known for the annual snowfall in the winter months, the view from Thompson Pass offers summer guests unforgettable views. Continue into the interior of Alaska and travel across the Denali Highway. This seldom-travelled road was the first road to allow access to Denali National Park and is true wilderness with frequent wildlife sightseeing and amazing views of the Alaska Range. Arrive at Denali National Park this evening and overnight for two nights.

Day 4

Denali National Park

Denali National Park and Preserve, home to North America's highest peak. 20,320-foot Denali, (formerly known as Mount McKinley) majestically dominates the park's 6 million acres. A free day for independent activities. A hike along the many wilderness trails might be fun. Also take advantage of several optional outings, including a wildlife tour to seek out grizzly bears, caribou, moose and Dall sheep. Perhaps a raft trip down the Nenana River or a helicopter ride over the park. Your Tour Director will have plenty of suggestions.

Day 5

Denali National Park - Talkeetna - Alaska Railroad - Anchorage

Relish one last look at the outstanding scenery and wildlife of Denali, before traveling to the quaint community of Talkeetna, a model for the TV show Northern Exposure. Enjoy strolling along the shops in downtown or take a walk to the river. This evening, board the world famous Alaska Railroad for a memorable train journey through untamed wilderness to Anchorage. If the weather cooperates you will have the opportunity to view Mt. Denali from the train. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 6

Anchorage - Seward for embarkation

This morning enjoy a city sightseeing tour of Anchorage, with a visit to the Anchorage Museum where you will see a quality display of artifacts of the native people of Alaska. This afternoon continue to Seward for embarkation aboard your cruise through the Inside Passage down to Canada.

Glacier Bay

Cruise into spectacular Glacier Bay early this morning, where forests give way to a rugged landscape rising to rocky peaks. Sixteen huge mountains converge to create an awe-inspiring panoramic wonder, a dramatic scene of awesome glaciers and massive icebergs. Wildlife is abundant, and you may spot eagles, seals, mountain goats, moose and bears in their natural habitat.

Day 9

Skagway

Morning arrival in Skagway, Alaska's gateway to the Klondike Gold Rush in Canada's Yukon. Skagway was the turbulent staging point for prospectors and still has old-fashioned weathered boardwalks and old-time saloons. Optional sightseeing includes a ride in a vintage parlour car to see the White Pass and Yukon route.

Day 10

Juneau

The capital city of Alaska has a Gold Rush story to rival that of Klondike and is only accessible by seaplane or boat. An optional wildlife cruise and salmon fishing will normally be available, and you'll also have the opportunity to take an optional excursion to Juneau's own glacier, Mendenhall. This impressive river of blue ice is about 1.5 miles wide and over 12 miles long!

Day 11

A morning arrival in colourful Ketchikan, situated on Revillagigedo Island and known as the 'salmon capital of the world'. Here, a picturesque harbour shelters fishing boats and seaplanes. A wide choice of optional excursions will be available, including an outing to see Indian Heritage Villages, Totem Bight State Park and 'flightseeing' to Misty Fjords National Monument. Evening departure from Ketchikan.
