This morning, enjoy a half day city tour Mumbai before transferring to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai to board the Deccan Odyssey for the start of your enchanting journey to Vadodara, the Royal city of the Gaekwads.
Arrive in the Royal city of the Gaekwads - Vadodara. Visit the famous Champaner - Pavagadh Archaeological Park, a World Heritage site. Also see the magnificent Jami Masjid and the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum. Witness a scintillating folk dance performance, as you savour a wide array of delicacies from the Royal kitchens at the Laxmi Vilas Palace.
Arrive at the princely city of Udaipur. Visit the famous City Palace which houses the spectacular Crystal Gallery followed by an enthralling walk through the quaint streets of the Old City. Complete the tour with a cruise on the tranquil waters of the Lake Pichola. Travel overnight in the luxury of Deccan Odyssey.
Your train pulls into Jodhpur this morning. Known as the Blue City, enjoy a walking tour of the Old Market and the magnificent Meherangarh Fort, famous for the palaces with amazing views of the city. Enjoy an included BBQ evening at the Mehrangarh Fort complex.
Deccan Odyssey arrives at the Mughal citadel of Agra. Visit the world famous Taj Mahal which was Emperor Shah Jahan's gift of love to his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, and is truly the world's most wondrous monument. The making of the Taj Mahal is as much a fable as the edifice itself. It took 20,000 men 22 years to build this unrivaled mausoleum and its exquisite white marble was brought from 200 miles away by caravans of elephants and camels. Other architectural gems to see of the Mughal Empire are the Itmad-ud-Daullah and the impressive Agra Fort. Dinner and overnight on the train.
Arrive at Sawai Madhopur this morning and spend an unforgettable day in the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, once the private hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur. There is an adventurous morning safari at the Reserve, going in search for the elusive tigers followed by a village safari in the afternoon.
This morning arrive in Jaipur - known as the pink city and the capital of Rajasthan. First stop will be to explore Hawa Mahal, also known as Palace of Winds. This pink sandstone structure is known for its distinct and interesting honey cobweb-like construction. Continue to the City Palace, a complex known for its carved doorways, gardens, beautiful palaces, courtyards and museum. Later, visit Maharaja Mansingh's 17th century masterpiece, the Amber Fort overlooking Maota Lake. The fort is a sprawling complex of courtyards, halls and rooms adorned with beautiful paintings, precious stones and mirrors. Later, walk past the UNESCO World Site Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory that was built by Sawai Jai Singh in the 18th century. Lunch is in a city hotel. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure. Perhaps go for a spa session or why not visit the bustling and colourful local markets of Jaipur and consider colourful handicrafts, traditional clothes, bangles, imitation jewellery and more. Return to the Deccan Odyssey for dinner and the overnight journey to New Delhi.
Arrive at Delhi Cantt Railway Station early this morning. After breakfast disembark and transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK.
