Fly to Boston where you will transfer to your hotel for one night. Meet your tour director this evening for a welcome drink and to meet your travelling companions.
Leaving Massachusetts behind, head via New Hampshire along the shoreline of Maine's rocky coast to Portland, one of New England's most famous cities. There will be time to stroll down the cobblestoned streets of Portland's famous Old Port Exchange, lined with many boutiques, coffee houses and art galleries. This evening will be in Bar Harbor, Maine's oldest summer resort. Dinner is a traditional Lobster Bake featuring Maine lobster, steamed mussels and corn on the cob.
This morning, experience the Atlantic seaboard rock-bound coast from the picturesque Acadia National Park, one of America's most visited national parks. Take the scenic park road and enjoy the spectacular panorama from the summit of Cadillac Mountain. After time at leisure to explore Bar Harbor, travel into Canada to St Andrews by-the-sea. Enjoy the views of historic Passamaquoddy Bay from the hotel this evening, or further explore this quaint seaside community.
This morning, arrive in Saint John and take the catamaran ferry to Digby. Surrounded by breathtaking beauty there will be opportunity to enjoy the views, relax and sample the internationally renowned cuisine in the Norman style chateau, that is the accommodation for tonight. Before dinner, enjoy a private demonstration by a local fisherman who explains the importance of the Digby scallop and introduces you to Nova Scotian music.
Travel toward Nova Scotia's Atlantic coast and follow the winding shoreline to Lunenburg, one of North America's major fishing ports. Visit the Fisheries Museum before heading to Peggy's Cove, a charming fishing village with a famous and much photographed lighthouse perched on a massive granite ledge. Later, arrive in Halifax, the provincial capital for the next two nights.
Enjoy an included city sightseeing tour with a local guide which will include visits to Citadel Hill, the tree-shaded walks of the public gardens and the harbour area, which evokes the port's former strategic importance. The tour also visits the Fairview Cemetery which is the final resting place for more than 100 people who perished on the ill-fated voyage of the Titanic.
Travel along scenic Marine Drive along the Atlantic shoreline through picturesque fishing villages with a stop in Jeddore Oyster Pond at Fisherman's Life Museum, a typical Nova Scotia fisherman's house from the early 1900's. Before arriving in Baddeck there is a visit to Sherbrooke Village, whose renovated buildings reflect the boom years of the 1860s. Cross over the Canso Causeway to Cape Breton Island, one of the first footholds of European settlement in the New World.
Enjoy a visit to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum this morning. Trace the achievements of this great inventor who spent the last years of his life on Cape Breton. Continue along the Cabot Trail and savour magnificent vistas of the rocky shoreline and the Gulf of St Lawrence. Later visit the Acadian village of Cheticamp and watch a demonstration on how the famous hand-hooked rugs are made, along with a traditional Acadian lunch. Finally today see Cape Breton Highlands National Park, at the northern tip of the island this landscape is very similar to Scottish coastal regions.
Today after a visit to Caribou take the ferry across the Northumberland Strait to Prince Edward Island. The next two nights are in Charlottetown, the provincial captial. Enjoy time getting acquainted with this colonial town on a stroll through colourful Great George Street and along the restored waterfront. Enjoy a lobster dinner at a local restaurant this evening.
This morning is at leisure followed by a guided tour of the island that includes Prince Edward Island National Park. There is also a visit to Green Gables farmhouse, the setting for the famous novel Anne of Green Gables.
Today, travel across the 8-mile Confederation Bridge to New Brunswick. Here, enjoy a guided visit of the famous Hopewell Rocks, fascinating formations carved by the Bay of Fundy's dramatic tides that rise more than 50 feet. Then, drive through Fundy National Park en route to Saint John, and and an orientation tour that includes the Reversing Falls.
Travel along sheltered coves and quiet fishing villages along the Maine coastline towards Camden. This evening the Tour Director hosts a special farewell dinner featuring lobster and other local specialities.
Depart this morning for Boston and the airport for your return to the UK, or extend your stay in Boston or on a Bermuda cruise.
