This is the first time my husband and I have...

18th October 2018
Mrs Rosemary Brown

This is the first time my husband and I have ever done an escorted, group tour. We were pleasantly surprised. Our tour director Andrea was very professional and courteous. He looked after all of the groups needs and had the patience of a saint!! We had a wide variety of optional extras which we took advantage of. Generally we felt they were good value and worth taking. The local guides were again very professional and knowledgeable and gave us a fascinating insight into the beautiful culture and history of Italy. The tour coach was comfortable and clean and our driver who looked after us for the week, was always punctual and courteous. We had a three stop tour and stayed at three different hotels. Our first hotel was adequate with the rooms being fairly basic. The restaurant was too small for the amount of guests staying at the hotel and the breakfast was chaotic to say the least!! This would have been helped if the hotel had at least two coffee machines rather than one! Our second hotel had pleasant rooms and the breakfast was of fair quality however, our dinner, which was included in the tour was fairly basic. The restaurant for groups served inferior quality food to individual travelers! Such a shame as our overall impression of the hotel was good until this point. Our third hotel was of a very high standard with lovely big, smart rooms. The staff were all very polite and helpful and the bar and lounge areas were light and comfortable. Unfortunately, the food was very poor in The Fortuny Restaurant. Why should we as a group be served substandard food? If we stay in a 4* hotel , like all other guests, we should expect 4* food! The breakfast was again, very basic and of very cheap quality. Our last dinner at the hotel, which was again included, was diabolical. My husband and I are vegetarian and quite honestly, the ‘food’ we were served wasn’t fit for consumption! Talking to the other guests in our group, it seemed to be the consensus of opinion! Such a shame the hotel provides such poor cuisine as the rest of the hotel is beautiful. Apart from the hotel cuisine, overall our holiday experience was wonderful and we would definitely travel with Cosmos again. Please sort out hotel cuisine as the enjoyment of eating good food plays a major part in ones holiday experience.

We thought it was a good taster tour of Italy...

Trusted Customer

We thought it was a good taster tour of Italy visiting many places and sights. The Tour Guide was excellent, the accommodation reasonable, improved through the trip. The optional excursions were good and so was the weather for the time of year. The other members of the tour group were interesting and we got on well with some in particular for such a short trip. Car collection to and from the airport in the UK worked well. Overall we are very pleased we went and with the Cosmos organisation, the only negative was the time it took to fly there and back from Birmingham in the UK via Frankfurt, almost as long as some others living in the USA!
