Fly to Paris. On arrival, transfer to the Novotel Porte Orleans (4*) for four nights.
Soak in the best of the French capital’s main attractions, on a sightseeing tour that begins at the unmistakable domes of the opulent Sacré-Cœur Basilica, and see for yourself why more than 14 million visitors per year visit the French Gothic Notre Dame Cathedral, which dominates the Île de la Cité natural island on the River Seine. You’ll also have free time to explore the city at your own pace.
Leave the city behind and head to the town of Lisieux. The tranquil Carmelite Convent, Les Buissonnets (the House of St Teresa) and St Peter’s Cathedral all feature on today’s itinerary. Take time to reflect, during a mass (in French) within the lavish Basilica, before travelling back to Paris.
Day four is filled with a tick list of beautiful and meaningful Parisian attractions. See the ornate frescos within the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, the gilt-edged interiors of the St Vincent De Paul shrine and more.
Board the coach bound for Limoges, with a stop in the city of Orléans – made famous in 1429 when a peasant girl named Jean d’Arc (Joan of Arc) rallied the King’s armies to successfully fend off besieging English forces. Walk in her courageous footsteps, before carrying on your journey to Limoges.
You'll visit the ancient sacred site of Rocamadour, for a chance to follow in the footsteps of pilgrims past, who climbed the 216 steps of the Grand Escalier, leading from the village up to the sanctuaries and stunning views. See the enchanting St Sauveur Basilica and Chapelle De Notre Dame with the Black Madonna Statue. Reaching Lourdes, today's list of activities concludes with a visit to the revered Grotto of Lourdes and a chance to attend the Rosary.
Take some peaceful time for personal reflection at an international mass, followed by a walking tour of Lourdes, which takes in the revered shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes. See the birthplace and family home of St Bernadette, the patron of Lourdes. You may also attend the "blessing of the sick" or experience the powerful healing baths.
Mosey around the French market town of Lourdes, at your own pace, with plenty of scope for exploring the pilgrimage site around the town’s famous shrine, known as Sanctuaires Notre-Dame de Lourdes (Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes), otherwise known simply as the Domain.
Set off in the direction of Avignon, taking a break at Carcassone, to stretch your legs on a wander through the fairy-tale fortified town. When you get to Avignon, you’ll have the chance to walk to the imposing Palais des Papes (Palace of the Popes) (entrance fees not included) before checking into your hotel for the night.
Leaving Avignon behind, you’ll stop in at Paray-le-Monial, which bears the national brand, ‘Towns and Country of Art and History’. Visit the sacred sites of the Chapel of Apparitions and Basilica of the Sacred Heart, before continuing on to Nevers for the night.
Discover the Monastery of St Gildard's, where Ste Bernardette spent her life as a nun, before your coach makes its way back towards Paris. A stop en-route and Chartres gives you chance to enjoy a guided visit to the town's cathedral.
Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
