Enjoy a day dedicated to York, England’s most complete medieval city. Visit YORK MINSTER, the largest gothic cathedral in Northern Europe, then follow your Tour Director through a maze of quaint streets, including the narrow Shambles. The choice is yours for the rest of the day: you can visit one of an array of renowned museums or walk on the City Walls.
Drive over the heather-clad North York Moors National Park for your first stop of the day at the moorland village of Goathland where the popular TV series Heartbeat was filmed. Next, the old whaling port of Whitby; home to the young Captain Cook, the gothic Abbey which was inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and of world-famous fish and chips! The final stop of the day is at the picturesque old fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay, which can only be accessed by walking down (and then back up!) a very steep hill. The village is more latterly known as the end of Alfred Wainwright’s Coast to coast walk.
Visit the gardens of RHS HARLOW CARR nestled in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. Harlow Carr offers a variety of growing landscapes, from running and still water, to woodland and wildflower meadows. Next, spend some time in the nearby elegant spa town of Harrogate before returning to York.
